Father Figures is a non-profit group under the East End Renaissance Council 501(c)3 and is comprised of a diverse group of men dedicated to rebuilding our community. By fostering supportive relationships and dedicating time, effort and energy we strive to ensure positive reinforcement and support for youth who are “Making A Turn for The Better”.
Currently, Father Figures is sponsoring a “Coat’s for Kids” campaign. Our goal is to provide warm coats, hats, gloves, socks, shoes and undergarments to 400 children in Richmond and surrounding areas.
From now until December 10, 2009 we will host a list of fund-raising events in conjunction with our community sponsors. Some of those events include a weekly Wii and X-Box tournament, a Celebrity Flag Football Tournament, an Old School Hip-Hop Party, a Men’s fair and a host of other events. Members of the Father Figures also teach workshops on a weekly basis for youth and adults addressing social issues based on the five points of the PEACE principles: Political, Economic, Athletics (fitness and nutrition) Cultural and Education. Workshops are conducted by qualified members of the Father Figures team as well as peer-led discussions and open-floor forums.
